Roles and Responsibilities

College/Department/Unit

  • Adhering to University scheduling policies and procedures
  • Determining college/department/unit course offerings and class schedules, while mindful of “20/30/30/20” distribution requirements (see Instructional Space Scheduling Policy for additional information)
  • Pre-booking locations only as needed, while mindful of:
    • Seat utilization expectations (see Instructional Space Scheduling Policy for additional information)
    • Potential for negative impact to effectiveness of scheduling algorithm when classes are pre-booked
  • Finding a location for classes that were not able to be roomed during bulk scheduling
  • Making necessary and appropriate adjustments to location assignments after bulk scheduling, in keeping with the Instructional Space Scheduling Policy
  • Working with the Office of the University Registrar and other colleges/departments to resolve critical class scheduling issues and challenges, such as those related to construction, special circumstances and major University-wide events

Office of the University Registrar

  • Providing guidance in interpreting and implementing University scheduling policies and procedures
  • Training schedulers on how to use 25Live Scheduling and 25Live Pro versions
  • Monitoring of large classes prior to the pre-enrollment period, in order to ensure adequate classroom space is available across colleges
  • Bulk Scheduling of classes for the Spring, Summer and Fall terms, in keeping with scheduling order requirements (see Instructional Space Scheduling Policy for additional information)
  • Assisting colleges/departments as necessary with cross-college scheduling challenges
  • Prelim and final exam room scheduling
  • In partnership with Student and Campus Life, provide end user support for the Scheduling@Cornell system and website
